A new and interesting bug has appeared in the Mathematica front end for the Macintosh. This bug exists in Mathematica 1.2 (and because of its nature could not have existed in earlier versions.) Mathematica 1.2 allows you to do routine editing work in a notebook while the kernel is doing computations in the background. This is in general a good thing (although the question of how to let the user know that the computation is still underway was poorly handled - the watch cursor is not used at all.) Some things you can do will cause the program to crash. In particular, if you execute the "Quit" command from the menu while the local kernel is starting you will consistently get an ID=10 fatal crash. - Robert Campbell - Math Dept, UC Berkeley campbell@math.berkeley.edu
