[comp.sys.mac] With all the talk about the LJ-IIP, did anyone notice...?

allbery@NCoast.ORG (Brandon S. Allbery) (09/27/89)

In article <9751@venera.isi.edu>, jas@ISI.EDU (Jeff Sullivan) writes:
+---------------
| to have the best prices on HP LJ series printers? I know of Oregon
| Digital, who has a price of $995 on the LJ IIP. Is that the best
+---------------

Meanwhile, in article <780058@hpvcfs1.HP.COM>, neff@hpvcfs1.HP.COM (Dave Neff) says:
+---------------
| The PostScript cartridge for the IIP has been anounced at a price of $995
| and requires 2.5 to 4.5 megabytes of total memory in the IIP (in other words,
| 2 to 4 megabytes of optional memory).
+---------------

And at about the same time, in message <ALMS.89Sep22152557@brazil.cambridge.apple.com>, alms@cambridge.apple.com (Andrew L. M. Shalit) states:
+---------------
| getting memory upgrade. The memory upgrade is not cheap. ($500 list,
| ~$370 discounted, for a meg).
+---------------

Putting 2+2+2 together, I arrive at a somewhat startling conclusion: one can
now (or soon) get a low-end Postscript printer for about $2730... which is
cheaper than any other (true) PostScript printer I've seen yet. Did I miss
something, or has HP quietly pulled off a minor coup?
