I have a small problem that leads me to wonder if there is a small, simple solution. A while back my girlfriend wanted a simple data-base so she got Affinifile, a simple flat-file system that resides as a DA. Recently (ie. we haven't noticed this before, but we just moved and set up the machine again after a few months) she noticed that Affinifile would bomb if you left the machine for awhile and came back to find Moire had engaged. When you moved the mouse and the screen cleared, there would be gibberish text in the menu bar and the next action sent you crashing (into the monitor?). Now, it's easy enough to move the mouse to the never-Moire corner if you leave the machine while in Affinifile, but that is a particularly inelegant solution, putting the burden on the user, not the machine. I wonder if anyone knows a) why this is happening or b) how I can cure it. I would greatly appreciate any help. As for the important background, I'm running a Mac II with Multifinder (I believe I have system 6.0.x, not .3 or .4), I also have Application Menu, MacsBugs (I think), and Vaccine hanging around as DA's or INITS (Damn, why can't I keep these straight?). As you can tell, I'm not the most sophisticated Mac hacker, just a programmer from the days of the Apple II gone on to user status as an academic and not keeping up with OS innovations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -- Clark Clark N. Quinn Learning Research and Development Center University of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA 15260 (412) 624-9581 quinn@unix.cis.pitt.edu
