[comp.sys.mac] RGBView Release Notice

pepke@loligo.cc.fsu.edu (Eric Pepke) (09/30/89)

This is to announce the release of RGBView version 1.0.

RGBView is an application which reads 24 bit RGB image files and converts
them to 8 bit images with color palette. It will run on any Macintosh
computer with color QuickDraw. On a computer with a color monitor, it will
display the images on the screen and provides some simple animation capability
for multiple images. It can read several different RGB image formats and
write a couple of different 8 bit image and palette formats. Programmers can
write additional file readers and writers to work with RGBView.

You can get RGBView via anonymous ftp at vsserv.scri.fsu.edu in the
pub/mac/apps directory. It is in two parts which should be concatenated
before running through BinHex or Stuffit 1.5.1. The distribution contains
RGBView, a 25-page guide, a sample picture in MTV image format, and a working
sample of a file reader. The guide contains information on how to use the
program, a discussion of the algorithms used, and a description of how to
write your own file readers and writers.

RGBView is in the public domain.
