A question for hardware types-- I have an Everex 20D drive (contains a Segate ST225N drive). When connected by itself through a terminator to a Mac+, the Mac can't find the drive. When connected through a MassMicro Data Pak drive (turned on, but with no cartridge in the drive), it works fine. The voltages on the power supply look good, the drive spins up, but the drive active light never comes on when the drive is by itself, and you cannot hear the heads seek at all. Everything seems normal when it is feed through the MassMicro drive, however for about a week before it stopped working it seemed to take a while after it was turned on before the Mac would recognize it. If I had to guess, I would assume that there is a problem with the SCSI board since the drive works fine if the Mac can find it. Is it possible to purchase the board by itself? Since the Everex is mine & the DataPak belongs to our department, I can't leave it connected through it. By the way, Everex wants $335.00 to repair the drive. Is this normal for a drive that cost $419.00 new? I thought lighting dimmer manufacturers had the record for repair rip-offs. I would appreciate any suggestions of methods to determine what part of the drive is causing the problem. Thanks in advance. Jon R.
