A friend has hooked an Epson printer to a Mac with a hardware device that seems to convert the appropriate printer codes so that the Epson deals with Imagewriter style data (it also converts serial to parallel). Now, is there an easy way to have the Mac adjust the image size so that the output is the same size as the Epson... i.e., to take account of the smaller dot size on the Epson? This friend does not want to adjust a lot of parameters in his word-processor; he'd prefer to have the fact of the Epson be as invisible to his existing application as possible. Any suggestions? Especially free/shareware suggestions? norman@husc4.harvard.edu John Norman Department of English and American Literature and Language Warren House Box E-13 Harvard University Cambridge, MA 02138 617/495-2533 (Official business ONLY) UUCP: harvard!husc4!norman Domain: norman@husc4.harvard.edu BITNET: NORMAN@HULAW1

In my opinion, dump the hardware addition. Instead get one of the various software Epson printer drivers for the Mac made by Softstyle et al. These work rather well (some better than others), and can handle all fonts and graphics with no problem. -steve ----------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Juhasz synth@ncoast.org ncoast!synth@hal.cwru.edu uunet!hal.cwru.edu!ncoast!synth -----------------------------------------------------------------
