[comp.sys.mac] tappytype doesn't work

spector@brillig.umd.edu (Lee Spector) (10/10/89)

I downloaded the rather frivolous TappyType INIT (which is supposed
to make your mac make typewriter noises) from comp.sys.mac, but have
been unable to make it work. I put it in my system folder and rebooted.
The icon shows when I boot, and the CDEV shows up in the control panel
(and says that it is activated). However, it just doesn't seem to work.
I can play the sounds from resedit, and nothing seems to be corrupted,
but I get no sound while typing to any application that I've tried.
Any suggestions? (System: IIcx 4 Meg RAM, 80 Meg HD, system 6.0.3, a
few INITS, but nothing that messes with sound too much).

Thanks! -Lee (spector@cs.umd.edu)

I had the very same problem, initially, and found that TappyType had to load
BEFORE Suitcase. Works great now!

Try changing your INIT order.

Quite welcome.

Tappy Type does not work on my Mac SE, 2.5Mb, System 6.0.2, Suitcase,
GateKeeper, etc... It does show up at startup and its cdev works okay.

This is just what I've wanted for a while, I'd like it to work...

It also does nothing on a Mac Plus, 2.5 MB, System 6.0.2, Suitecase II,
vaccine, superspool, moire, not much else. Too bad. It's a fun idea.

TappyType does work on my SE but not on a SE/30 (Systems 6.02 and
6.03 respectively). Might this be a 68030 or system problem? Otherwise
it's a neat bit of nostalga.

Any recommendations for programs that would give me a simple keyclick?

Thanks in advance.

I'd have to agree that TappyType likes to be loaded before Suitcase II.
'Course, if you're not using SCII, I don't know what to tell you....
