[comp.sys.mac] Need source code to binhex.

sparks@corpane.UUCP (John Sparks) (10/10/89)

I help run a public access Unix system and am trying to put up Macintosh
downloads for our members. The big problem I am having is that the
MacIntosh binaries newsgroup has everything converted with a program called
BinHex. I need to convert them all back into their binary forms, and place
them into our download section. Since I don't have a Mac, only the unix machine
is available.

What I need is the source code to binhex, so I can convert them back to binary
on the unix machine. I prefer 'c' source, but will take what I can get.

I found a BASIC version of binhex on a BBS, but I couldn't get it because it
was archived with Stuffit, which I can't run on unix. Catch-22, eh?

So I am relying on you out there to help me. Send me email if you have the
source to binhex available, and I will let you know if it's ok to send it to
me. That will keep me from getting 100 copies of binhex (optomistic aren't I?)

Thanks in advance!

mcvert is a c program which can convert
both ways and can concatenate multipart postings.
The sources are also available via anonymous ftp from
sumex-aim.stanford.edu in ./info-mac/unix/mcvert.shar

Hope this helps
