dweeb@norby.acns.nwu.edu (Phil Tracy) (10/19/89)
I have received over a dozen responses to my posting about the FDHD problems some IIx/IIcx/SE/30 users have been discussing on the net. This is a disturbing number, but considering the size of this newsgroup's readership, I don't believe it is 'alarmingly' disturbing. So, I will continue to keep track for another few days or so, and post the results. For those of you who are interested, the majority of responses have been of the type "Some of my 800K disks seem to be wacked out by the FDHD, but work ok on a regular floppy drive". The 'some' variable seems to be somewhere around 10-20% For those of you who missed the first posting, please let me know if you've experienced problems with your Apple FDHD. This is completely UNofficial, just a compilation of statistics to see if there possibly IS a real problem. Send a short description of the problem, type of Mac, and floppy brand to dweeb@norby.acns.nwu.edu and I will post the full list sometime next week. Please include the words 'FDHD Problems' in the Subj: line of your message. (Thank you to the gentleman who sent me his own compilation--sorry, I did not recall that this crusade had gone on before) Phil Tracy dweeb@norby.acns.nwu.edu Northwestern University
