Hi, I'm having trouble initially mouting my mirror 100meg external HD when I startup my Mac II. If I turn the Mirror drive on first and then startup (not restart) the computer, the computer tries unsuccesfully to access the mirror drive when it's supposed to startup the internal (I set the startup device to the internal). This leaves my computer hanging and it forces me to turn off the mirror drive which then brings up the internal like it's supposed to. Incidently, when the computer tries to access the external drive, the screen shows nothing but the desktop pattern and my mouse pointer. In some occasions, the dick icon with the ? appears after about 20 seconds. After the internal is booted up, the external, of course, is unreachable after having it turned off. From here, I turn on the external again and restart. This will finally properly mount the external. So the whole story is, every time I want to use the external drive, I have to startup and then restart my computer. Does anyone out there have any success/failure stories with Mirror Technologies' 100M external drive? Nothing I can think of can fix this problem. My configuration is a Mac II w/ 4 Meg of ram, 40 meg internal (SCSI 0), 100 meg external (scsi 1), ethernet card (I don't know the brand), and giant 19" color monitor by SuperMac. This stuff belongs to work, not me :- ) -Roger rkim@avior.gsfc.nasa.gov bs27@umd5.umd.edu
