[comp.sys.mac] WriteNow "unexpectedly quit" in MultiFinder

ajq@mace.cc.purdue.edu (John O'Malley) (10/19/89)

A student on campus tells me that he uses WriteNow in MultiFinder (System
6.0.3) on a Mac Plus with 2.5 megs of RAM.

Three times in the same day he lost his work when the program quit ...
he saw a box that said "Application unexpectedly quit." WriteNow was
the only application running.

I've seen that message a couple of times in other situations, but I
don't recall the circumstances (although WriteNow wasn't involved).

Can anyone offer any insight?

In article <3367@mace.cc.purdue.edu> ajq@mace.cc.purdue.edu (John O'Malley)
describes a problem where WriteNow unexpectedly quit.

I've seen this one or two times, while globally modifying a 100 page document.
(This leads me to suspect that there might be a bug if memory is shuffled
at the wrong instant.)

I found that if I changed WriteNow's application size to 800K (do a
Get Info on WriteNow from the finder and change the size box), the problem
went away.

You might want to contact WriteNow tech. support to see if they know of
this problem and have a real fix. I've found that WriteNow has very
competent support folks.
