[comp.sys.mac] How to connect a Lisa to an AppleTalk network.

rcbaem@eutrc3.urc.tue.nl (Ernst <pooh> Mulder) (10/19/89)

A while ago I posted a message asking if anyone here knows how to connect
a Lisa to an AppleTalk network. Well today I succeeded and now IUm very happy!
I discovered the __b serial port of the Lisa has differential inputs too! The
Lisa has two serial ports. the __a port is a normal RS232 port (using the
1488 and the 1489) but the __b port is a differential port (using the 26LS30
and the 26LS32) connected in such a way that it behaves as a normal RS232
port. Well, as soon as I modified my AppleTalk cable/connector using port
__b's differential inputs, my Lisa could talk AppleTalk too!!
(And now I'm happy :)))

Didn't anyone from Apple know this? The Lisa isn't that old is it? Quite
a nice machine!

(Can you imagine? 5 years ago I only had a 4K Apple //, and now I have a
three-machine network, two Macs and a Lisa AT HOME! TImes change, gee!)

 Ernst.
