we have a appletalk network using a star controller. We are considering putting a fileserver/printserve onto the network and I wondered if it mattered where the devices were with regards to network traffic/efficiency ? I was thinking of either connecting the server to a port on the star controller or putting the server where the star controller terminates and connecting it to the controller and then taking the laser off the controller and directly connecting it to the server. I thought that this would isolate the laser by putting it on the other side of the server, and out of the network per se. Does this seem reasonable ?
