In a previous posting, I mentioned my problems importing a large scanned image in PICT format. Chuq made the helpful suggestion to try using TIFF format instead. A followup call to Aldus produced the information that, indeed, Freehand does not do well when it tries to read a large bitmap in PICT format. Apparently, Freehand has the notion that PICT files are only going to be used to import relatively small object-drawing type graphics, not huge bitmaps. OK, so I was able to import the bitmap in TIFF format. But now I have another problem. I scanned the image at 300 dpi. But when the TIFF file is opened in Freehand, it appears to be only about 75dpi, or perhaps even worse. Selecting "Best Quality" instead of "Faster" for the screen display mode makes no difference. The screen display of the bitmap is so crude and pixelly that it is useless for my purposes. (It's line art, not a continuous tone image, BTW.) Anyone else have a similar problem, or better yet, a solution? -Bill Leue leue@crd.ge.com
