Our group has a problem with the PLI Infinity 40 Turbo Disk Drive which has been driving us crazy. We have bought several of these drives to hook on our Mac II machines. We have run into problems on two of the Mac IIs. All systems have 5 MB RAM, 40 MB internal hard drives, and are running Release 6.0.2 of the system software. All have Remvinit version 1.0 installed, which is the init supplied with the PLI Infinity 40 drives, and all are running TurboBack v 2.91, which is the backup utility supplied by PLI. Four Mac II systems work flawlessly with the Infinity 40 drives, and two of them fail in a strange manner with no consistent error message. Instead, upon startup they sometimes experience system bombs of one kind or another. Other times they exhibit the bombs upon launching or closing the TurboBack application. Other times they will bomb if we execute the show stat option under the special menu in TurboBack. What drives us crazy is that this only occurs when we boot off of the internal hard disks. If we boot off of the system floppy distributed by PLI, no problem. We have even gone so far as to replace our system folder with the system folder supplied on the PLI distribution disks, and still suffer bombs upon booting from the hard drives. I welcome your comments and guidence.
