That really helps reduce font menu clutter. +--------------- In studying my manuals, I have found out that there is in fact no limit on the number of fonts in the System file; for some reason, I had managed to get fonts confused with desk accessories (aided and abetted by a certain font which I have attempted to add/remove from the System only to receive a cute little bomb alert, which I took to be a limit on the number of fonts actually allowed in System the first time it happened. Accordingly, I hereby downgrade my advice above to a friendly suggestion to people who dislike System file clutter. [ ;-) ] BTW, scanning IM 4 shows that fractional widths are controlled by a Font Manager call. I also noticed the warnings about using it in applications which don't expect it, but the warnings aren't so terrible as to preclude using something like the FKeys/DAs/etc. that diddle with an application's setting for the Font Manager scaling fonts.
