MacWorld December 1989 , page 82 says: ---------------------------------------------------- >> Apple has issued a service notice that adds additional drives to the Apple >> Hard Disk 40SC repair program. Dealers will replace an internal 3 1/2-inch >> 40MB disks at no cost if the serial number falls within the range of 335507 >> to 1250863.(The number is located on the rear of the 50-pin SCSI >> connectors.) ---------------------------------------------------- Are these drives made by Quantum? Do these drives have anything to do with the sticky lubricant? My 40 Mbyte drive is made by Quantum. I had it PROM upgraded last month. Strangely, my serial number on the hard drive is 40901180848 which is totally different from those numbers. I am hoping that the 4090 is the batch number or something NOT important. Am I right? Any suggestion? Ju, Yun-cheng ju@uicadb.csl.uiuc.edu
