With your DeskWriter Manual, you should have received a list of incompatible apps. - one of which is any early (pres 2.0?) version of MacPaint. Many early apps. (including MacPaint) would print only to LaserWriters and ImageWriters, which at the time was reasonable since that was all that existed. The message you are seeing is MacPaint not recognizing the DeskWriter driver. Upgrading to MacPaint 2.0 will solve this. As far as the PageMaker 2.0 bug, we (I was testing coordinator for the DeskWriter) didn't test with 2.0, but tested intensively with 3.0 (and now 3.01) with no problems, so an upgrade is probably :-) the fix there also.
