[comp.sys.mac] NCSA MacPlus contour question??

jsyktus@adam.ua.oz (Jozef Syktus) (11/03/89)

We would like use contour package from NCSA for MacPlus in our Geology
& Geophysics Department, however there is one major problem with data supply to
application package. Documentation with NCSA Countour says that raster file with
data should be supplied. How one create raster file from text (numbers) file.
Could somebody, please help us and give example of raster file or explain to us
haw can you prepare data file which will be recognized by contour program e.g.
for 4 x 4 data set =>  2 7 4 6
                       2 3 4 7
                       1 1 2 1
                       3 2 2 4
Waiting with anticipation, thank you.

The file in this case would be a 16 byte files whose first byte had value 2
(control-B), 2nd byte had value 7 (control-G), 3rd byte had value 4
(control-D), etc. The usual procedure would be to create such a file on a
mainframe and then do a binary download to the Mac for use in Contours (or
other NCSA visualization software).
