I vaguely recall a recent thread of discussion on the topic of whether it was better to use HP's scalable fonts or ATM on the DeskWriter. What was the conclusion reached? From some limited experiments I've performed, I'd say ATM produces much nicer looking output, especially for outlined or shadowed text. -ME

From my limited experience ATM produced nicer outline and shadow enhancements, but the other enhancements were very similar. Some programs like MacDraw II produced very nice rotated text (at any angle) with ATM. This is because MacDraw II rotates it's own text before it sends it to the driver and since ATM is active all the time, it helps MacDraw II produce nice rotated text. I did have a couple minor spacing problems for bold text, but I don't know if this is ATM's fault or the application or what. Steven Miller Vancouver Division Hewlett Packard
