[comp.sys.mac] color on the regular SE

user7@amdcad.AMD.COM (Unix class) (11/11/89)

Hello,
I'm wondering if you can have color for the regular SE and if so
what type of cards/monitors are available. If not color, what about
gray-scale? Do the SE ROMs have Color QuickDraw on them?

Thanks,
		CHUNG.

Chung,

Sorry...no Color QuickDraw in the Macintosh SE ROMs. Consider Orchid
Technology's ColorVue SE video card. It gives you 16 color on Apple's 13"
monitor.

No, you can't add a color or grayscale monitor to an SE. You CAN add either
to an SE/30, which does have Color QuickDraw in ROM. Apple offers an SE to
SE/30 upgrade for about $1700 list. You could then get a color card from
SuperMac and (I think) RasterOps. May be others available by now.\

Expensive, but can be done. -R
