I called about Videotrax almost a year ago after seeing an add in MacWorld. They told me that there had been a marketing error and that is why the product was advertised before it was available. They told me then that it would be available around April, '89. Now you're saying fall of '89. There seems to be something happening here. I wonder if there ever will be a real product.

> A product called Videotrax was advertised a while back... >... for backing up on VHS video tape I don't want to rain on anybodys parade but are you sure you really want to buy this? I seem to recall it was in the >$1,000 price range ( I know, big deal right!) It is also a backup medium with a very short future. Two "digital" tape backup media based on 8mm video tape ( this has already standardize on a drive made by EXabtye, and is currently being marketed for the MAC by PCPC and Genius about $5,000) and 4mm digital audio tape are about to swamp the market place. Does anybody real want to buy a media that was obsolete about 2 years ago and never developed any market penetration. Oh yeah, the 4mm and 8mm tapes have >2 Gbyte capacity. They may even obsolete optical disks (as far as the home computer market is concerned) Alan legrand
