The SE isn't all that different from a Mac Plus. The SE has Apple Desktop Bus ports (for the newer keyboards and mouse), an internal expansion slot, a faster SCSI chip, slightly faster overall performance, and you can purchase it from Apple with an internal hard drive. That's about it. Apple never offered a Plus to SE upgrade kit. Perhaps you mean the Mac II to Mac IIx upgrade. -John --- John O'Malley / Macintosh / Purdue University / (317) ajq@mace.cc.purdue.edu / Specialist / Computing Center / 494-1787

Someone (sorry) once wrote: > Has anyone upgraded their mac+ to an SE? Were there any unanticipated > problems? Is the performance REALLY the same as an SE? What kind of > money did it cost? I once upgraded a 512KE to an SE/30. I'd have to take it apart again to remember eveything I did. (The guy down that hall has been using it for the past few months.) I had hoped that there was some hacker magazine that might be interested in a article on it, but so far, no luck. If several of you are interested in it (respond by MAIL to steve.ligett@dartmouth.edu), I'll try to get the info out. -- Steve Ligett steve.ligett@dartmouth.edu or (decvax harvard linus true)!dartvax!steve.ligett
