But, since he asked... EndNote is a bibliographic database and reference manager. It provides a quick and easy way to store and search bibliographic data in an application/DA database. It allows users to add citations and reference lists to word processor documents by copying and pasting temporary citations into text, and then formatting the document: replacing the temporary citations with bibliographically correct styles, and adding a reference list to the end of the paper (actually a copy of the original). Comes with styles for APA, JACS, Chicago, Science, Nature, Vancouver, etc. Styles can be added and edited, using our output-by-example format. 15 Reference Types allow different styles for Journal Articles, Books, Conference Proceedings ... even Artwork: also editable to a certain extent. Allows font, size and style changes, including superscripts and subscripts, Symbol font for Greek letters, italics and bold for proper bibliographic formatting. We have an add-on, EndLink, which will allow you to do online searches on some databases on DIALOG, BRS, etc. (Medline works well) and import the journal articles from capture files directly into EndNote -- no retyping involved. EndNote works with Word 3 & 4, WriteNow, WordPerfect 1.0 & 1.0.2, MacWrite 5.0, RTF and apparently, LaTeX. We also have MacInfo: an EndNote database of articles from MacUser, MacWorld and MacWeek, starting with March 1989. Includes short summaries of articles and products mentioned. Currently 2850+ articles, monthly updates on disk, $120 a year (bundled with EndNote: $179). Please e-mail me directly for more information. Claimer: I work for this company, and I get profit-sharing if we make money, HOWEVER: I also do the customer support, so I don't claim what isn't true, because I'm the one who has to cope with fallout. -- Help me justify my online bills: ask me EndNote questions, please! -- Avi Rappoport nilesinc@well.UUCP, Niles.Assoc on AppleLink 415-655-6666 2000 Hearst, Berkeley, CA 94709
