Is there anyway to have Mac applications (such as Word, Write, etc.) direct their output to a disk file instead of directly to the printer? What I want to do, exactly, is to send Mac-generated PostScript files to a Unix machine that has a Laserwriter hooked to it. The Mac is connected to an IBM PC via the TOPS network and the PC is connected to the Unix network via Sun PCNFS ethernet--so if I can get the file on the Mac I've got no problem getting it to the printer. Does anybody know of a utility that allows one to save a file as a postscript file right from the print dialog box? I am connected to a UNIX/PC LAN via my printer port so I can't (easily) use the CMD-F method. (To do that I have to select LaserWriter from the Chooser and since my printer port is already tied up it won't let me choose it!) Thus, I am left with 2 bad options: 1) disconnect my printer port connection, restart the Mac, and then do the CMD-F method (select LaserWriter, turn Background printing off, etc, etc) or 2) restart with Multifinder off, do the CMD-F method, and once I'm done restart with Multifinder on to restore to the original configuration. (With Multifinder off, it seems that the Chooser can be fooled into thinking that I'm connected to Appletalk.) It would be great if there was a "print postscript to disk" button on the print dialog box, or perhaps a "print postscript to disk" chooser icon. Any ideas? P.S. I remember reading someplace that the code to do this was already in place in the Apple drivers but was hidden. (Whatever that means!) By the way, although the above posting concerns output from any Mac application, my main concern has been to get postscript versions of MacDrawII documents.
