My department wants to get some portable computers like the Radio Shack Model 100, Olivetti M-10, or NEC Whatever. We don't want a CPM machine with 50 pounds of manuals, we just want to spend ~ $1000 for a machine that will do mail, simple text editing, and maybe spreadsheet work. Since AT&T owns 25% of Olivetti, we'd prefer the Olivetti if we can find out how to order one (our usually-reliable micro-computer vendors denied it existed, or "don't sell typewriters", or whatever.) So... - How much memory can it have? - What software is built-in? What's optional? What's user-written but good? - Is a 1200 baud internal modem available, or only 300? - What are the part numbers to order everything? Also, is Olivetti coming out with a fancier model, like Tandy did with the Radio Shack Model 200?
