Has anyone out there had any experience with a scanner froma company named DEST? It comes with built in OCR firmware, handles (I think) 32 levels of gray scale, and can supposedly be configured to run with either a Mac or an IBM. There's a company selling them very cheap mail-order from California, and I would like to know a bit more about them (the scanners), such as whether the company is still in business.
