Take a look at the Macintosh Portable's active-matrix LCD display. With a separate transistor behind each and every pixel, it's one of the most complex displays around. What problems are likely to crop up with this new technology? I've already seen Portable displays with dead pixels. That's pretty quick, considering the things've only been out for a month and a half. How long before LOTS of pixels start dropping out? I hope it takes a while before too many go, because that display is one EXPENSIVE part to have to replace, and it has to be replaced as a single module... there's no repairing it. Anyone have any experiences with other problems that may occur, or may already be starting, with these monitors? Once the Portable is out of warranty, can I count on needing to replace my expensive display fairly quickly? -- ============================================================================ Mark H.
