I'm a long-time Unix hacker who wants to start doing C and C++ on the Mac. Ultimately, I will probably invest in MPW. However, recently I picked up Sesame C from sumex and tried using it without much luck. It appears that I will have to invest some time, as well as the $35 shareware fee, into getting the most out of Sesame C. My question is: Is it worth it? Is anyone out there using Sesame C (with or without the Ctools package) for developing programs in the 500-1000 line size range? Is the generated code reasonable, (I don't expect much optimization) and reasonably free of bugs? Is there a decent source-level debugger? Are there preprocessors and the like around? And, if the answer to the above is affirmative, what do I need to do to make Sesame C into a good development environment? Mark Fulk fulk@cs.rochester.edu
