How does MacWorks work? How much of a Mac is my Lisa running MacWorks? A long time ago there was a TechNote on MacWorks, I forgot the number, but this TechNote has been deleted 'for clarity reasons'. Has anyone got the original TechNote for me? Or does anyone know anything about MacWorks? [or about Sun Marketing's MacWorks Plus???] pooh

Back, way back, when it was only trying to be the same as a 64K ROM machine, it only took around 64K. Now, I'll bet it probably takes around 128K. MacWorks Plus should work with just about any current program that will work on a Mac+, as long as it doesn't try to write directly to hard-coded memory locations for the screen, or rely on a few hardware features such as the sound generation mechanism (it CAN do simple sounds, but it can't handle all of the synthesis methods). Other than the Lisa being an extremely slow 68000, I really liked the machine. It was well constructed, easy to take apart, and it had memory management hardware built in (although it is probably not compatible with anything that works with the 68030 or 68020 with PMMU. -- Steve Peltz (almost) CFI-G "Monticello traffic, Glider 949 landing 18, full stop"
