[comp.sys.mac] Msg From Scott Watson

UseNet'ers:

I don't have direct access to this network (gadzooks!) but your
messages have filtered down to me.

Apparently, there are at least 2 different versions of "sz" (the "Send
ZMODEM" source code file) that have been widely implemented. I had
access to just one, and based my automatic receive startup on that.
Blame it on ignorance.

I've just uploaded the 11.02 patch to The FreeSoft RoundTable on
GEnie, which among other things will now automatically start up a
receive with any current version of ZMODEM. I'm going to try and get
this patch uploaded as far and wide as possible, but if it doesn't
make it to a location conveniently downloadable by you, remember that
you can still swap your Master Disk for the current version for free
just by sending the disk back to us and requesting the latest update.
Send it to the address on your Master Disk label.

This applies only for updates (which are the numbers to the right of
the decimal point) rather than upgrades (which are the numbers to the
left of the decimal point). Our company policy is that updates are
free (we don't even charge for shipping).

Please continue leaving comments here - they will get to me and I do
 appreciate them!

Also - for those of you who have experienced the following problems:

1) Your keypad/cursor keys don't work in VT terminal emulation
2) Your copy of Okyto sez "Sorry, but this beta test version has expired"

These fixes are _not_ your fault, but mine. Again, we have a free
disk replacement policy (I have a mandate that they go out the same
day we get them, even before new orders are filled), and I'll
additionally try to get the patch files distributed as widely as
   possible.

Also, be aware that White Knight will use a Color QuickDraw window for
the Terminal Window, Macros Window, RLE Graphics Window, Phonebook
Window, and File Transfer Window when Color QuickDraw is available.
This may cause problems with some INIT's and D.A.'s that expect Window
memory structures to be those of non-Color QuickDraw, including such
bizarre symptoms as windows not appearing and system crashes just
before that window was to appear. White Knight _does_ work with
virgin System software - add INIT's and such at your own discretion,
but please let us know what incompatibilities you confirm.

The problem I have with Okyto is:
 1) "Multifinder", after being transfered didn't work, "Application damaged"
     or some such message.
 2) Twice, trying to send the LaserWriter file crashed the sending Mac
The Macs were a MacIIx and a MacSE hooked up over AppleTalk with no one else
on the lines. The connection was straight from serial port to serial port.
We successfully transferred many files, but couldn't get the LaserWriter file
accross without hanging my machine.

Thanks,
Jim
PS: I am really happy with WK11.01 and will probably be buying an Okyto
for my Dad so we can zap each other files (he isn't about ready to try to
master WK, and we need the highest throughput we can get!).
Thanks Scott.

What? You mean that there are people in this world who *aren't* on the
net?

:-)
