[comp.sys.mac] Fastback, Copy II Mac, Think Pascal

dcbii@ncrcae.Columbia.NCR.COM (dcbii) (12/07/89)

I realize I have a lot of subjects in the subject line, but I wanted to cut
down on net traffic.

First, Fastback. I just got Fastback 1.3 (was included with my hard disk)
and I can't seem to get it to work with my IIcx. The error that comes back
makes me think Fastback 1.3 can't use the FDHD. Now, I have also seen a
reference to Fastback II on the net recently. Is this the upgrade to Fastback?
Does it work with the IIcx drives, and is it worth the upgrade fee (whatever
that may be)? I just sent in the registration card, and I haven't heard
anything from them about it yet.

Second, how recently has the latest version of Copy II Mac (7.2, I think) been
upgraded? Specifically, will it allow me to backup Shadowgate and Uninvited?
I currently have 6.2, and I can't seem to back up those 2 programs. I also
have a similar problem with Might & Magic. Along this same line, is there
any product that will allow me to move these programs to a hard disk? It is
a pain having to keep the master disk on hand for these programs. I don't like
to use the Master disks for ANYTHING once I have made a backup. Normally, I
can use the backup when the program on hard disk asks for it, but as I have
explained, I can't even back up all my programs.

Third, I am having a problem with Think Pascal on a IIcx with an Imagewriter
I. Whenever I try to print the program text, I seem to get a system bomb ID=1.
This happens with both version 2.02 and 2.03. Actually, this is probably not
Think Pascal's problem, since if all INITs/cdevs are turned off this doesn't
happen. So I guess the real question is: What INITs/cdevs are known to have
problems with Think Pascal and a IIcx? I have about a row & 1/2 of them. I
can work around the problem, but I WOULD like to know what causes it.

Thanks for any help for one or more of these problems.
