What's going on these days. The old reliable companies noted for fast deliveries are moving like thick molasses in January. I ordered 4 boxes of Sony DSDD disks from Mac Connection a few weeks ago. They warned me that they wouldn't ship for 48 hours due to the order system change over, but that they had them in stock (I know, I know, you can get 'em elsewhere cheaper... but when I need 'em, I need 'em FAST!). Sure enough, a box arrived on the day promised, but with only 1 BOX (10) of disks. The other 3 boxes were BACKORDERED! It took a week before the rest of the order showed up. Now, I really have like MacConnection, but at least 50% of the reason I order from them is their speed (and the fact they used my picture in one of their ads awhile ago). However, someone either lied or was just incompetant since they told me that my disks were IN STOCK. Similarly, having just taken delivery on a MAC IIci, we put out for bid 8 megs of SIMMS. Awarded it to Chip Merchant, who said they had 'em IN STOCK. Guess what... 3 weeks have now gone by, and on checking last Monday (Dec 4th) they said it would be ANOTHER 2 WEEKS. ARRGH! Using 1 meg of memory on a ci is like running a jet engine with only 1 pint of fuel in the tanks... On our POs going out from now on, if a company says they have something in stock, I'm putting an "auto-cancel" clause if shipment isn't made within 10 business days.... I'm posting this 'cuz I'm pissed..... --------------------------------------------------------------------- - Bob Wier Northern Arizona University summer:Ouray, Colorado winter:Flagstaff, Arizona USENET: ...arizona!naucse!rrw | BITNET: WIER@NAUVAX | WB5KXH
