Hi! Thank you all for the proliferation of help concerning my phonenet question. I forgot to mention one thing in my original message--we don't allow access to the server from every single machine...the software we use here has been installed on each hard drive. Don't ask me why--I wasn't working here when the lab was set up. Only about .5% of all the users here access the file server for anything but printing. As a result, I opted for the cheapest of all of the suggestions given to me: to shorten cable. Fortunately this worked!!! I took some of the cables that were longer than they needed to be and made shorter ones out of them, and the problem stopped. All of your suggestions were not in vain, however, since there is a distinct possibility that we will be getting even more equipment in this lab, plus software to keep track of which of our applications are getting the most use. That program will dump all it's information to a drop folder on the file server at machine startup. I forsee many of the previous problems returning at that point. Again, thank you so much for the myriad of responses I got. Happy Holidays! /*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ /*Charles R. (C. R.)
