We can configrm that the WDEF virus definitely does cause problems with the display of font styles. One of the bugs in the virus is that it destroys the contents of a low core global used by the Font Manager. The low core global is not documented by Apple, so we don't know EXACTLY what it is used for, but we do know that it is used in some way by the Font Manager, and it involves font styles. If you are having problems with the proper display of font styles it is a very strong indication that you are infected by the WDEF virus. You should get Disinfectant 1.4 and repair your disks, or rebuild your desktop files to get rid of the virus. John Norstad Northwestern University jln@acns.nwu.edu
