[comp.sys.mac] Plotting with the Macintosh?

gf07+@andrew.cmu.edu (Gordon Maskew Fair, III) (12/12/89)

Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with trying to send graphical output to plotters?

What I am looking for is either a generic program that converts graphics
and/or postscript to hpgl or some plotter type language OR a specific
program that would only work for certain CAD/CAM or MacDraw or whatever
programs converting it to hpgl.

If you have any any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Gordon Fair

MacdrawII, for one, has the ability to plot drawings on a variety of
different pen plotters....HP,Houston Instruments, etc.

I have personally used it pretty extensively to plot mechanical drawings
on a Houston Instruments plotter. The quality is not bad, with the
exception of text
and fine features (like arrowheads), which tend to get the jaggies when
plotted.

Instructions on how to are in the MacDrawII User's Manual.

Beware! Beware! Beware!

I have a Mac IIci at work and Claris CAD and the plotter driver will
NOT work. I called Claris to find out what was happening and they said that
their plotter driver does not work with the IIci.

Apparently, the plotter driver is written by a British company and they do
have a working plotter version for the IIci, but that costs $299US.

Claris has said something about looking into and solving this problem,
but they have not said when.

In the meanwhile I am using a program called Pen which came with my
copy of DesignWorks2.0 (a fine schematic entry program).
