If by "file it was launched from" you mean the document you clicked on to
launch the application that created it, then use CountAppFiles and
GetAppFile, which are documented in Inside Macintosh, Vol. II, pages 57 & 58.
If you can't get your hands on IM II, I could Email you the syntax,
parameters, etc.

If you have something else in mind when you say "file it was launched from"
then I am at a loss to help you.
