Summary of TAX PREPARATION software

I recieved 12 replies to my request for info on tax planning software, in
addition to several posts which I have not included here.
EVERYONE highly recommended MacInTax, by SoftView, $65 from several
mail order houses, with annual updates about $50-$55 from SoftView.
According to February's MacWorld, MacInTax has the following forms:
W-2, 1040, 1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 worksheet,
schedules A - F, R, SE, W, 2106, 2119, 2210, 2441, 3903
Unfortunately, it does not handle all the schedules that were needed last year.
According to MacWorld, EZTax-Prep 1040 has almost twice as many schedules
as MacIntax, but it is an Excel template, not a standalone application.
And noone mentioned it. It costs $99.95 list and doesn't seem to be
available from mail order. (So no trial period with MBG)

On MacInTax:
MacinTax, ... Has loads of forms with everything crosslinked.
Prints out very neatly on Imagewriter or Laserwriter forms which are
pre-approved by the IRS for submission.
Run, don't walk, to buy MacinTax... There's no other way to do taxes.
There is an interface to Dollars and Sense,
There's absolutely no question here -- Macintax is fantastic.
Macintax. $65.00 from MacConnection, and worth every penny.

I'm in love with it! It is extremely easy to use...
The easy winner is MacInTax. It has never taken me more than 30 minutes
to do my taxes, both state and federal, print, sign and mail them.
In addition to federal, they have state forms for CA, NY, and (I think)
Illinois and New Jersey and Conneticuit residents who work in NY.
Highest possible recommendations for MacInTax.
