I know that Wingz is sold to faculty and students for a special price of $99 from Campus Technologies. However, I recently heard that Microsoft offers a similar deal for Word. Anyone know about this? Neither Campus Technologies nor this university (University at Buffalo) make this offer. Campus Technologies doesn't even carry Word. Maurice Volaski University at Buffalo Dept. of Physiology

I bought the Academic version of Word 4.0 here at Dartmouth. Pretty cheap, and fully functional. It was missing a few of the supporting materials found in the commercial version, I think. For instance, the mail- in card to get the printer driver for non-Apple printers is missing from the Academic version. If you call Microsoft tech support, however, they will send you the driver for a nominal fee. It does come with AutoMac III and the Word Finder thesaurus, and the program is fully functional. Now that you know the package exists, I suppose you have to bug your dealer to try to get it for you. Earle R. Horton

[ ... ] Yes, they offer it through many (most) campus bookstores. Microsoft also offers "Lab-Packs" and other volume discounts to schools that offers MAJOR price reductions even from the $99 Academic Edition prices. --scott CLAIMER: I speak for everybody! :-O -- Scott Truesdell

Yes, Microsoft offer college student a very inexpensive pricing on ALL Microsoft product, including PC and Mac software. Word 4.0 price should be $74.95, Excel is about $109, Works is about $85, etc. No discount on Word for OS/2 and something that only professional can afford to have a system like that to use the software. Check with your college bookstores for detail. Remember proof of CURRENT student status is required. - Morris
