[comp.sys.mac] is A/UX 1.0 useable for gmacs/uucp? manuals needed?

ryland@mfci.UUCP (Chris Ryland) (12/19/89)

I have the possibility of getting A/UX 1.0 (perhaps with an
upgrade to 1.1.1) and never moving on in terms of versions.
All I really want to do is run gnu emacs and uucp (for mail
and news). Is 1.0 solid enough for this? (This only has
to hold me for a few months, not forever.)

Another question: can an expert 4.3BSD Unix systems hacker get
by without the manuals? (They cost $500.) Are there man pages
on-line?

Any advice appreciated. (Direct mail to me, please. I'll
summarize if there seems to be any generally useful outcome.)

Cheers.
