I have several a DeskWriter, ATM, Suitcase, and several Adobe type faces and after playing around with the setup for a while, I have complained enough to form, in my mind, a picture of the ideal font utility. I wish some enterprising author would read this note and write it, or some experienced font head would read this note and tell me where to buy it. The ideal font utility: - Replaces Font/DA Mover - Also incorporates Font Harmony's ability to repair bogus Adobe fonts. - Will let you muck around with FOND's so that I can decide which printer fonts get associated with which style selections, and so that I can properly combine a Font family in several suitcases into one suitcase without having to guess the correct way. - Prints several styles of font catalogs General overview of all fonts Range of Stlyes for a selected font, possibly including which stylistic variations produce which fonts Range of sizes for a particular typeface - Can replace the font menu of any application with a nice hierarchical menu. The "base" name of a font is displayed in the menu, and all the "B Bold"'s "M Mediums"'s, "L Lights"'s and "C Condensed"'s show up on a pullright. (My font menu is way too long). - understands about multiple suitcases, allowing me to have several open at a time and move stuff between them. - For ATM user's it would generate a bitmap version of an outline font at any size you asked. Can I get this at ComputerWare :-) ?
