Heads-Up to SuperMac DiskFit users!!!!! The new Gatekeeper Aid INIT does a nice job, but does (or did) not get along with the DiskFit backup program. Caution, it ruined my backup disks (all 37) and I wasted a weekend trying to figure out what was messing up. When I removed the Gatekeep Aid INIT, the backup program started working normal. Greetings, As Dick has already mentioned, there is a conflict between Gatekeeper Aid 1.0 and DiskFit 1.5. This conflict has been confirmed and Ive noticed Dantz Development and Chris Johnson. It appears that this conflict is probably associated with the problem that Chris mentioned in the Gatekeeper Aid Help file about ResEdit and MultiFinder. So...to recap, we are aware of the problem and currently, we are recommending that you remove Gatekeeper Aid 1.0 from your System Folder and reboot before using DiskFit to back up your hard disk. I'm using Diskfit and just backed up my harddisk with no (apparent) problems. I'm using version 1.41, I think. How did you know you got messed up? What version of the OS are you running? I'd like to know how to tell that something is wrong NOW, not when I have to restore my disk from floppies! I have been using DiskFit 1.5 and GateKeeper Aid 1.0 for two weeks without noticing anything. I back up to 45MB cartridges using the "duplicate" option of DF. Is the problem only apparent when backing up to SmartSets? I using a Mac II, 8MB RAM, PMMU, loads of INITs, System 6.04, MF 6.1b7. Edgar (knapp@cs.utexas.edu)

Edgar, Well...it's a moot issue now that Gatekeeper 1.0.1 has been released by Chris Johnson. Essentially, Dick's problem was with a floppy based SmartSet. Fabian Ramirez SuperMac Technology fabian@cup.portal.com sun!cup.portal.com!fabian
