I recently received Communicae from Active Ingredients (It is therefore NOT vaporware). I am very happy with it as it combines the features of both Shell and Terminal into one useable terminal emulation program. It has scrolling that Terminal misses and vt220 and Tek4014 graphics terminal emulation that BOTH Shell and Terminal lacked. It also has kermit and xmodem built in. I so far am very happy with the performance. It seems very fast. I have not seen any bugs yet. (The price was $395 incl. OD. There were no small quantity University discounts.) I also received my DaynaFile drive for 3.5" floppies. It can read IBM or UNIX floppies but sorely misses software for reading Mac floppies. They claim that this will arrive as a free upgrade in a couple of months. Until then, I must admit that I probably won't have much use for it. (The price was $375 for developers and universities.) -ron fellman (rfellman@ucsd.edu)
