I just had 4 megabytes of 80 ns ram installed in my Mac II. I then
gleefully installed all my INITS, including SuperLaserSpool 2.0, MacsBug 6.0,
SuperClock, Vaccine (already installed), and maybe some others. Later that
day, when I tried to print an Excel 2.2 speadsheet, the Mac spooled and then
crashed into MacsBug with a message 'bus address error.' Today, printing from
Word 4.0, the SuperClock display changed font, or disappeared until the
printing finished. Using the interrupt switch to go into MacsBug, I discovered
that my system heap was bad ('bad heap at 00001e00: number of free zones does
not match heap header,' or something like that). This heap problem disappeared
after removing SuperLaserSpool, re-appeared after re-installing, remained even
after system replacement.
I tried removing all INITS except SuperLaserSpool and MacsBug. Same
problem.
Now I removed MacsBug, and the mac prints ok, with no crashes or
strangeness (so far), but I can't check for heap problems. Quite possibly the
fault lies with MacsBug. Any suggestions, comments?
Could there be an undetected harware problem with the memory? The
About Finder window shows a full 5120 k of memory. Is there a problem
installing 80 ns memory in one bank, and 120 or 100 ns in the other?

David, MacsBug 6.0 has been replace with version 6.1 and I haven't had ANY problem with MacsBug 6.1 (or even 6.1b1) with SuperLaserSpool 2.0 or 2.01. Have you tried the old "trash 'n replace" procedure? Fabian Ramirez SuperMac Technology fabian@cup.portal.com sun!cup.portal.com!fabian
