Dear Net Colleagues, Apologies if this question has come up before--I am not a reader of this group; if you can help, please send mail to the address below rather than replying to the net. I have a TIFF file and would like to get it into PostScript form. The TIFF file was created on a Mac II using some Apple scanning software, then transferred to a UNIX machine using the binary ftp mode of NCSA telnet. I have tried using tif2ps and tif2rast (closely related programs by Andreas Lampen and William Wu, posted to comp.sources.misc; the latter transforms TIFF to Sun rasterfile format). These programs both die with the message: tif2ps(GtData): fread error tif2ps(scantif): can't read # of entries tif2ps(tif2ps): cannot read file I have also tried the tifftopgm tool in the recently released pbmplus ("portable bitmap plus") kit of Jef Poskanzer, which reports: tifftopgm: unknown byte order: 0x0005 Unfortunately, I don't know *ANYTHING* about TIFF files. A colleague reports that Mac files have 2 logical forks, one containing data, and the other containing "resources" (code, or pictures, etc.). He suggested this appeal to the net. He also suggests that perhaps we need to use "macget" to transfer the files over a serial connection, seperating the data and resource files in the process? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
