[comp.sys.mac] early imagewriter

I have recently obtained an imagewriter (probably the first one made) and the
dip switchs are not set correctly for my SE (Yes I have the correct cable) does
anyone have a manual that would describe how to set the dip switches for this
beast? Would greatly appreciate any input to get this thing going!--

I also have one of the ImageWriter Classics, but connected to a Mac II.
I'd imagine it's the same for other Macs... This is how I have the DIP
switched set on it. (SW1 is the big one)

SW1 : 1-5, 7,8 open & 6 closed
SW2 : 3,4 open & 1,2 closed

Here is what the switches do:

SW1 : 1,2,3 : for foreign character sets

Language 1 2 3
-------------------------------------------
American open open open
British closed closed open
German open open closed
French open closed closed
Swedish closed open closed
Italian closed open open
Spanish closed closed closed
American open closed open

There are indeed two Americans, I believe they are the same.
For the most part, the Mac uses the graphics mode, and what text is set for
is pretty much useless.

SW1 : 4 closed = 72 lines/page, open = 66 lines/page
SW1 : 5 closed = ignore 8th bit, open = don't
SW1 : 6,7 character pitch

6 7
-------------------------------------------
open open pica
closed open elite
open closed ultracondensed
closed closed elite proportional

(Also pretty much useless for the Mac.)

SW1 : 8 closed add LF after CR, open = no LF after CR

SW2 : 1,2 baud. The Mac likes 9600

1 2
-------------------------------------------
open open 300
closed open 1200
open closed 2400
closed closed 9600

SW2 : 3 closed = XON/XOFF, open = DTR protocol
