On my SE/30, I have the regular internal floppy and an external hard drive. (NO internal hard drive) If I boot off of a floppy and then try to run an application off my hard disk (i.e. the disk that WAS NOT booted) the System on my hard drive takes over and, upon returning back to the Finder, the Mac thinks that the hard drive is now the disk that was booted and consequently uses that system to operate for things such as DAs, fonts, desktop pattern etc. First, why does this happen? And does it ALWAYS happen? Second, is there any way to prevent this system switching from happening? Please send e-mail and I'll summarize for the Net.
