[comp.sys.mac] PlayMaker Football -- follow up review

gregwong@maui.cs.ucla.edu (Greg Wong) (01/13/90)

A short time back, I posted a review of Broderbund's PlayMaker Football.
I had a chance to play it some more and I wanted to report on additional
things I've uncovered.

My previous posting mentioned all the wonderful things in this game. I've
since found a few flaws. Don't get me wrong. I still really enjoy this
game. I think it's the best computer football game around. Some of the
flaws follow.

If you score a touchdown during the last play of the 1st half (or the last
play of the game, I suppose), time expires and you can not attempt
the point after touchdown. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in real football,
shouldn't a team still get the opportunity for a PAT even if time has
expired?

There does not appear to be any provisions for running a Wishbone type
option play. For example, it would be nice if you could have your QB and
HB running to the outside, and the QB would have the option to lateral
to the HB if he gets into trouble. I don't think there is any way
to design this into a play using PlayMaker's Calkboard Editor.

Again, I still really enjoy the game. I'll be sending my comments along
to Broderbund. Maybe they'll fix these things in their next version.

>>I am not in any way connected with Broderbund. This is just a personal
review. Broderbund is not paying me in any way for this. <<
