We at UC Academic and Public Computing are setting up an SE/30 on Ethernet as an AppleShare server for general campus use. We would like to be able to monitor how often people use the server. What we're looking for is the equivalent of a wtmp file, altough data about the users themselves is not so important (they will mostly be logged on as 'guest'). We do however want records of how often people log on and for how long. AppleShare doesn't keep these records (sigh). Does anybody know of a third-party package that could? I envision something that would be installed as a concurrent application under AppleShare, much like AppleShare Printer Server. If anybody knows of a program like this, I'd appreciate hearing whatever you know, including names and addresses of manufacturers, product reviews, first-hand experiences, etc. If there is sufficient interest, I'll summarize to this newsgroup. Thanks in advance. -- David Walton Internet: dwal@tank.UChicago.EDU University of Chicago { Any opinions herein are my own, not } Computing Organizations { those of my employers (or anybody else). }
