Is there a version of Kermit which works with the MAC ][. The version we have is 0.8(34A). If there is an updated version which will work with the MAC ][ could someone mail it to me. Please bear with me. I am new to the Mac, the Kermit FTP site and this newsgroup so I hope I get this straight. I am trying to get a copy of Kermit later than 8.0. I've FTP'd the help files from 128.59.39.2 and found the ck files on tape B. However, the docs stated that this was the last version of Kermit to run on a 128k machine and shouldn't be ran on anything larger. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone tell me how to ftp the latest version of Kermit for the Mac? I have binhex so I could use either a .hqx version or binary. I don't have the experience to actually "build" a file from source code on the Mac yet. Thanks in advance for any help. Bob Church att!oucsace!bchurch

I am attempting to use C-Kermit on a Sun to transfer files to and from a remote Mac, without success. I use RedRyder to dial up the UNIX site, going via a net transfer from an MTS account because only the MTS has datapac and the regular phone is long distance. (Because of all this I have to say I'm an LA120 terminal!) Once on the UNIX account, I can do some things, but not others -- worry about that another time. I fire up Kermit on the remote (Sun) and tell it Send MyFile, then pull down receive Kermit on the RedRyder menu. A dialog box flashes briefly on the screen with the message that the first block (or segment, or whatever) is/has been transferred successfully, and then just as quickly a new box comes up informing me that the file transfer was unsuccessful. I click OK (nothing else to do) and get to watch the remote Kermit put various characters on my screen for a while, then finally give up. What obvious (to all of you) thing am I doing wrong -- or is it the roundabout way I get there that causes the problem.
